Teaching the Magic of Riding is something we take enormous pride in at THRS. We emphasise the importance of building a bond with your horse; of working with and not against their unique personalities, and of course learning to be fantastic horse riders!
Quite simply, we like to have fun – we want lessons that both you and your horse can enjoy together, and our talented, enthusiastic instructors are there to make sure this happens. We recognise that everybody learns differently, and so take a flexible approach to teaching, structuring lessons in a way that helps both you and the horse learn together.
We have no indoor facilities which means all our lessons are outdoors. we aim to get out whatever the weather, however there are times it is not possible. a lesson will always still go ahead whether it be ridden or in the stable (where you’ll have chance to learn more about your four legged friends) Due to this, we recommend wrapping up during the colder months. See our handy leaflet below for tips on how to best dress for winter riding!
Children’s Lessons
Complete Beginners/New to Riding Lessons:
We offer riding lessons to children from the age of 5yrs upwards, starting them on 30 minute lead-rein lessons (£21.00 per child, per lesson, plus hat hire charge of £1.00).
All regular children’s lessons are group rides (but we do offer private lessons in holidays for a treat).
Children are accompanied by a helper until they learn to be more independent at steering, stopping, and are showing a balanced sitting and rising trot. Most of the emphasis however is on having fun!
We hold lead reins at the following days and times (subject to availability):
Tuesday (4:15pm) Wednesday (4:15pm) Saturday (10.30am and 1.30pm) Sunday (1:30pm)
For those who have ridden before:
We always recommend that those who have ridden before undertake an assessment lesson on either a lead-rein (where they can ride unaided if capable) or 45 minute lesson (which can be ménage based, but no longer with the 1:1 help on the ground).
This is so the rider can get used to our horses and the way we teach, and the instructor has a chance to assess what would be the most appropriate lesson to continue building skills and confidence.
Please telephone the office to discuss assessment lesson times and spaces (including private or semi-private lesson spaces), and more advanced lessons if appropriate. Prices for 45 minute and 60 minute group lessons (excluding hat hire at £1) are as follows:
45 Minute Group Lesson £25.00
60 Minute Group Lesson £30.00

Adult Lessons

30 minute semi-private lesson (2-4 riders) £26.00pp
45 minute private lesson £35.00
45 minute semi-private lesson (2-4 riders) £32.00pp

We also offer adult group lessons (£30.00 for an hour) on Saturday & Sunday at 11:30am
For those who have ridden before:
We always ask that those who have ridden before undertake an assessment lesson on a lower ability lesson. This is so you can get used to our horses and the way we teach, and the instructor has a chance to assess what would be the most appropriate lesson to continue building your skills and confidence.
Please telephone the office to discuss assessment lesson times and spaces, and more advanced lessons if appropriate.
